Desires of a Perfect Lady - Victoria Alexander
Synopsis:
A secret list of the desires of Lady Olivia Rathbourne:
Disregard convention
Follow my heart
Bed the Earl of Wyldewood
A decade ago, Olivia had expected to marry the Earl of Wyldewood, only to have happiness stolen from her before his ring could be placed upon her finger. Now he stands before her, as proud and arrogant and handsome as ever, vowing to rescue her. Well, he's got some nerve urning up after all these years. Where was he when she needed him?
As for the earl, scandal has never touched him nor has impropriety ever besmirched his name. But his penchant for doing the expected does have his family calling him, well, dull. Isn't it time to flaunt society's conventions and do what he's always wanted? And first on his list: Olivia in his bed—with or without a wedding.
(Sorry I know I just posted a blog but I wanted to get a review up of this book)
This is my first book by Victoria Alexander and the only reason I bought it was for the lush cover...crazy right?
Well I ain't so crazy because this book was fabulous and thanks to that lushily wonderful cover I have found a new author!!
I totally respect Olivia having to endure an unhappy marriage and the whole time staying strong through it all and never letting her dreams die. She is strong and brave and I admire her greatly. Sterling at first wants to forget the past but soon he realizes what a fool he was and grabs at his second chance and I'm glad for it.
Full of a worldwind adventure over various continents and full of crazy and wacky secondary characters this book will make you want to write your own list and travel to exotic lands and who knows maybe do something scandalous!!
Rating: *****

Don't Look Down - Jennifer Crusie and Bob Mayer
Synopsis:
Don't Look Down is a marriage of romance and action story, written by two experts in the genres. Jenny Crusie writes Lucy Armstrong, a film director with family problems--why is her sister so depressed, her niece so unhappy, and her ex-husband so intent on getting her back--and career problems--why is the star so determined to do his own stunts, the ingenue so determined to seduce the stunt double, and that Green Beret stunt double so damn attractive? Bob Mayer writers J. T. Wilder, a Green Beret who has his own troubles including the goofball actor he's doubling for, the stunt coordinator who's gunning for him (literally), and the director who looks like Wonder Woman and keeps distracting him from his mission. And that's before the CIA, the Russian mob, and the one-eyed alligator show up.
I had read the second book by Jennifer Crusie and Bob Mayer called Agnes and the Hitman and was completely enamored with it and have been searching high and low for this book ever since and the other day while in my favorite place in the world (Books-a-Million) I found it and grabbed it because it was the last one!
I was very pleased with this book...it had humor and yes Wonder Woman...suffering sappho!! OMG give me a man like Captain J.T. Wilder anyday and I would be happy!! Also Lucy is strong and willing to do what she has to in order to protect her family and her friends. The only thing I'm disappointed in was the ending it felt a little abrupt I guess I was wanting a little more but the scene out in the woods more than made up for it, LOL!! I mean how often in a book do you read about women dressing up in Wonder Woman WonderWear...totally hilarious!! I cannot wait to read their newest book Wild Ride but right now it is only in hard back so I will have to wait until it comes out in paperback or who knows I might get crazy and purchase the hard back version!!
Rating: ***** (5 yeah I said the scene in the woods made up for my small disappointment geeze)
You wanna read J.T. and Lucy's story just go here --->Don't Look Down and you can do that!!

Nine Rules to Break When Romancing a Rake - Sarah Maclean
Synopsis:
A lady does not smoke cheroot. She does not ride astride. She does not fence or attend duels. She does not fire a pistol, and she never gambles at a gentlemen's club.
Lady Calpurnia Hartwell has always followed the rules, rules that have left her unmarried—and more than a little unsatisfied. And so she's vowed to break the rules and live the life of pleasure she's been missing.
But to dance every dance, to steal a midnight kiss—to do those things, Callie will need a willing partner. Someone who knows everything about rule-breaking. Someone like Gabriel St. John, the Marquess of Ralston—charming and devastatingly handsome, his wicked reputation matched only by his sinful smile.
If she's not careful, she'll break the most important rule of all—the one that says that pleasure-seekers should never fall hopelessly, desperately in love . . .
All I can say is WOW, WOW and WOW!!
This book was wonderful!! I mean the chemistry between Callie and Gabriel is like an inferno and I was surprised I did not suffer from third degree burns while holding this book!!
I really admire Callie she is the odd girl out...the wallflower in love with the handsomest of men and thinking that nothing could ever come of it and deciding she really has nothing to lose she makes a list and determines to live life even it means stealing into the house of her long time love and demanding a kiss! And from there on out it is a war of passions and a war for Callie to win Gabriel's heart!
Full of funny, witty dialogue and memorable and lovable secondary characters this book is definitely worth the read. And WOWEE were there some hot, hot, hot scenes in this book....talk about deliciously, wicked and lushily fabulous. Gabriel St. John is one of those dark, brooding heros you can't help but love and Callie is just the kind of girl you would love to be friends with!
I must admit that after I read the last words I felt bereft and I immediately wanted to pick it up and read it again...thank you Sarah for making some of the most wonderful characters that I have read in a very long time. While it is hard for me not to say I love a book because I really do but usually the characters float out of my head but I have a feeling I won't forget these and with Nick's book coming out in October it is something I'm definitely looking forward to!
RATING: ***** (5 which is the bestest)
