Most women would not be pleased to be labeled a spinster. But Lady Poppy Smith-Barnes isn’t most women. In fact, Poppy has invented an imaginary fiancé, the Duke of Drummond, to deter unwanted suitors. A very useful fellow, this duke, until the real Drummond turns up and uses Poppy’s ploy to trap her in a betrothal.
Will their passion make it real?
A good spy flies below the radar. Which is why being named one of the Prince Regent’s “Impossible Bachelors” is so inconvenient for Nicholas Staunton. Every society female will be out to ensnare him. Nicholas needs a fiancée—and Poppy’s ruse is the answer. How could he have known she’d be a brazen, sensual siren with an irresistible taste for adventure? Now nothing less will do than to convince his fiery Poppy to revoke her spinster status…for good.
I was soo excited to read this book after reading When Harry Met Molly. I was especially in love with WHMM and therefore I was worried that Dukes to the Left of Me, Princes to the Right would not be up to snuff...boy oh boy was I worried for NOTHING!!! I absolutely adored Nicholas and Poppy.
Poppy had been in love with Prince Sergei of Russia for six years and to stave off all the unwanted suitors she used her Cook's story of the Duke of Drummond insisting they were madly in love. This worked until she meets the actual Duke of Drummond and her father has accepted his marriage proposal on her behalf.
Nicholas was on the list of Impossible Bachelors and he loves his life of a Bachelor AND working for the Service. It gives him adventure and therefore no sitting whiling away his life at his home of Seaward Hall. He dallied with Sergei's sister Natasha who fancies herself in love with him.
Soon Molly's wait for Sergei is over and he returns to unveil a portrait BUT this is where her father announces her betrothal to Nicholas, who agrees to it for the Service mission alone.
Soon there is a plot from Natasha to tear apart Nicholas and Poppy, the plan to steal the potrait which houses the portrait of a traitor is full of twists and turns and Nicholas finds the return of his long lost Uncle...the rightful Duke of Drummond.
This book is full of wonderful first and secondary characters. Also, twist and turns, laughs and cries....therefore it is absolutely wonderful.
So with When Harry Met Molly and Dukes to the Left of Me, Princes to the Right I have become a HUGE fan of Kieran Kramer and I cannot wait for the next book in the Impossible Bachelors series Cloudy With a Chance of Marriage.
So if you want to read Nicholas and Poppy's story just go here -->Dukes to the Left of Me, Princes to the Right (Impossible Bachelor)
