Lover Eternal - J. R. Ward

Description:

Within the brotherhood, Rhage is the vampire with the strongest appetite. He's the best fighter, the quickest to act on his impulses, and the most voracious lover-for inside him burns a ferocious curse cast by the Scribe Virgin. Possessed by this dark side, Rhage fears the times when his inner dragon is unleashed, making him a danger to everyone around him.

When Mary Luce is unwittingly thrown into the vampire world, she must rely on Rhage's protection. Knowing that Mary feels the same intense animal attraction, Rhage must make her his alone...

OMG this story was sooo sweet I was literally crying at the end especially with what the Scribe Virgin said to them...it was a very touching moment and I believe it showed a little of her humanity as well.

Rhage and Mary's chemistry is like off the charts!! I can sort of relate to Mary...you know she can't believe that someone as beautiful as Rhage (his nickname is Hollywood) would ever be interested in a girl like her...simple not over the top beautiful and works at a law office (hmmm this is sort of creepy)...so where the heck is my Hollywood...YOOOHOOO Alexander Skarsgard!!!

Again the Brotherhood comes together to form some of the best characters ever and the story I'm sooo ready to read is Vishous...I've got a huge crush on him but I've two books (I believe) before I get to his!!

Sorry this review is kinda short but it is time for bed and I really want to read to keep reading the next book in the series Lover Awakened...OH YEAH Zhadist...he is one I love as well!!!

If you want to get your hands on this book just go here -->Lover Eternal (Black Dagger Brotherhood, Book 2)
OR if you want to get your hands on the first six books at one time go here -->J.R. Ward Box Set

Dark Lover - J.R. Ward

Description:

In the shadows of the night in Caldwell, New York, there's a deadly turf war going on between vampires and their slayers. There exists a secret band of brothers like no other-six vampire warriors, defenders of their race. Yet none of them relishes killing more than Wrath, the leader of The Black Dagger Brotherhood.

The only purebred vampire left on earth, Wrath has a score to settle with the slayers who murdered his parents centuries ago. But, when one of his most trusted fighters is killed-leaving his half-breed daughter unaware of his existence or her fate-Wrath must usher her into the world of the undead-a world of sensuality beyond her wildest dreams.

Well after much recommendation from friends, family and the wonderful ladies over at the Eloisa James/Julia Quinn Bulletin Board (http://eloisjames.net/board) I decided to throw caution to the wind and try this series out.

My only question after book one is this - WHAT THE HECK TOOK ME SOO FREAKIN' LONG???

This book was great!! The characters are wonderful so now I cannot wait to read their stories and I was hooked only after the first chapter and never once did it lose my attention!! I was at work mostly by myself yesterday and when I was really into it the phone would ring...UGH! Oh well I finished it off today and now I've sunk my teeth (get it...sunk teeth...they are vampires...oh well tough crowd) into the next one and I went out and bought the boxed set yesterday merely because the store did not have the third book by itself unless it was in the boxed set so yes I couldn't stand it so I had to buy them even though I already had the first one but I plan on giving that extra one to my sister.

I loved Wrath he was sooo powerfully magnetic and even a little unsure of himself and Beth was just the right compliment to him tough and did not take any crap from him no matter who he was!!!

Well I really must leave you because I have got to get back to my book and if you are thinking hey I would like to check that out go here --> Dark Lover (Black Dagger Brotherhood, Book 1) to get the very first book or if you want you can go here -->J.R. Ward Box Set to get the boxed set of the first six books!!

Sex and the Single Earl - Vanessa Kelly

Description:

Their marriage was convenient...
Simon St. James, fifth Earl of Trask, knows he could do worse in the marriage of convenience department. Sophie Stanton may be a bit of a social liability, with her ungovernable ways and flighty nature, but Simon has responsibilities as an earl that far outweigh happiness in the household. And as for happiness in the bedroom...he has to admit he sees Sophie's potential in that arena...

Their passion was not!
But Sophie isn't some bargaining chip to be traded, and she's not about to let Simon St. James tell her how to live her life-even though she has nurtured a crush on the handsome young earl for as long as she can remember. If his idea of courtship is telling her what to do, then she is not interested, or at least she is trying not to be. But when his scolding words turn to scorching kisses, suddenly Sophie starts paying attention...

First of all this is my first book by author Vanessa Kelly. I am glad to find out that she only has one other book published therefore making the reading of her backlist very simple indeed, LOL!!

I completely adored this book!! I loved how Simon was all "I'm a great big Earl...grrr" and how he absolutely wanted to refrain from any scandal but in the end he ends up falling in love with a girl who can't seem to keep gossip from following her but ultimately has a big heart and loves him very much.

He also is determined to only care for her and want to keep her safe being how their families are generations old friends. BUT he also wanted the lands which is part of her dowry. As we know in the end everything about her from her spectacles to her resolve in wanting to rescue two poor children makes his icy facade crumble and he becomes madly in love with her.

With witty and sometimes goofy secondary characters and a villianess who I would have liked nothing more than to "box her ears" was the perfect combination!!

This in all does not even mention the HOTNESS of this book...WOWZA talk about steamy, LOL!!!

Also I'm instituting a new rating system which will be as follows:

Overall Rating:

Dead in the Family - Charlaine Harris

FIRST AND FOREMOST IF YOU DON'T WANT TO READ SPOLIERS LEAVE NOW!!!

I have been soo pumped waiting for this book...and finally it arrived. I do admit that I was worried that I was sooo excited for the book that maybe I might have pumped it up so much that it just couldn't possibly live up to my expectations.

I have to say I'm glad I was proven wrong...although my sister would disagree, LOL!!! She says it had too much information in it although I was curious about some of the stuff mentioned and was glad to finally have an answer.

Also the most important thing of all Eric and Sookie? OH YEAH they are still together and that was sooo awesome!!! Also he tells her he loves her...alright are you ready for the best lines ever:

Eric Northman: "I hurt with you. I bled with you-not only because we are bonded, but because of the love I have for you"  (HOLY CRAP is that not the best? Yeah it is the best!)

I am also glad that maybe Bill has found someone else because he totally blows...sorry he does and Eric is just...well for lack of a better word AWESOME!!  (Also in case you haven't noticed I'm totally:

You do learn alot about the vampire "government" and how things are run. You get to meet Eric's maker and also in the end his demise (which frees Eric, YAY) You have a vengeful fairy out to get Sookie but in the end is saved by her fairy great-uncle who at the time is little bit demented but honestly cares for Sookie and her fairy cousin Claude and Sookie's brother Jason! Also my sister said it needed at least another chapter...again I disagree. I think Charlaine Harris is setting it up for the next book and it is (for me anyway) the perfect entry to the next one and in the end Eric and Sookie are still together which is soo great and all I can say is it better stay that way!! Okay they are married and bonded, okay, okay!! (wow that was a lot of okays) Anyway I loved the book and I think she did a lot building it up and now it leaves us wondering what's going to happen with Victor and Felipe. Will Eric finally kill Victor? Or will someone else off the ladder climbing scum of a vampire? Will the Weres have to register? And many more and quite frankly I cannot wait to find out!!

Also more great news Charlaine Harris is going to be at one of the local libraries here on July 12, 2010...so I will be there with bells on you can believe that!!

Rating: ****** (yeah it gets 6 because Eric is pretty much the shiznit)

If you want to read it for yourself just click here --> Dead in the Family (Sookie Stackhouse, Book 10) and you can!!

AND if that isn't enough on May 25, 2010 I will be getting Season 2 of True Blood on DVD!! OH YEAH...even though it is currently re-running on HBO I will get to watch the rest before it re-airs on TV!! Go here --> True Blood: The Complete Second Season (HBO Series) if you want to get your own copy!!

THEN on June 13th the new season starts....SOOO EXCITED I CANNOT WAIT!!

Desires of a Perfect Lady - Victoria Alexander

Synopsis:

A secret list of the desires of Lady Olivia Rathbourne:

Disregard convention
Follow my heart
Bed the Earl of Wyldewood

A decade ago, Olivia had expected to marry the Earl of Wyldewood, only to have happiness stolen from her before his ring could be placed upon her finger. Now he stands before her, as proud and arrogant and handsome as ever, vowing to rescue her. Well, he's got some nerve urning up after all these years. Where was he when she needed him?
As for the earl, scandal has never touched him nor has impropriety ever besmirched his name. But his penchant for doing the expected does have his family calling him, well, dull. Isn't it time to flaunt society's conventions and do what he's always wanted? And first on his list: Olivia in his bed—with or without a wedding.

(Sorry I know I just posted a blog but I wanted to get a review up of this book)

This is my first book by Victoria Alexander and the only reason I bought it was for the lush cover...crazy right?

Well I ain't so crazy because this book was fabulous and thanks to that lushily wonderful cover I have found a new author!!

I totally respect Olivia having to endure an unhappy marriage and the whole time staying strong through it all and never letting her dreams die. She is strong and brave and I admire her greatly. Sterling at first wants to forget the past but soon he realizes what a fool he was and grabs at his second chance and I'm glad for it.

Full of a worldwind adventure over various continents and full of crazy and wacky secondary characters this book will make you want to write your own list and travel to exotic lands and who knows maybe do something scandalous!!

Rating: *****

If you want to experience the adventure yourself just go here --->Desires of a Perfect Lady to get your guide!!

Don't Look Down - Jennifer Crusie and Bob Mayer

Synopsis:

Don't Look Down is a marriage of romance and action story, written by two experts in the genres. Jenny Crusie writes Lucy Armstrong, a film director with family problems--why is her sister so depressed, her niece so unhappy, and her ex-husband so intent on getting her back--and career problems--why is the star so determined to do his own stunts, the ingenue so determined to seduce the stunt double, and that Green Beret stunt double so damn attractive? Bob Mayer writers J. T. Wilder, a Green Beret who has his own troubles including the goofball actor he's doubling for, the stunt coordinator who's gunning for him (literally), and the director who looks like Wonder Woman and keeps distracting him from his mission. And that's before the CIA, the Russian mob, and the one-eyed alligator show up.

I had read the second book by Jennifer Crusie and Bob Mayer called Agnes and the Hitman and was completely enamored with it and have been searching high and low for this book ever since and the other day while in my favorite place in the world (Books-a-Million) I found it and grabbed it because it was the last one!

I was very pleased with this book...it had humor and yes Wonder Woman...suffering sappho!! OMG give me a man like Captain J.T. Wilder anyday and I would be happy!! Also Lucy is strong and willing to do what she has to in order to protect her family and her friends.  The only thing I'm disappointed in was the ending it felt a little abrupt I guess I was wanting a little more but the scene out in the woods more than made up for it, LOL!! I mean how often in a book do you read about women dressing up in Wonder Woman WonderWear...totally hilarious!! I cannot wait to read their newest book Wild Ride but right now it is only in hard back so I will have to wait until it comes out in paperback or who knows I might get crazy and purchase the hard back version!!

Rating: ***** (5 yeah I said the scene in the woods made up for my small disappointment geeze)

You wanna read J.T. and Lucy's story just go here --->Don't Look Down and you can do that!!

Nine Rules to Break When Romancing a Rake - Sarah Maclean

Synopsis:

A lady does not smoke cheroot. She does not ride astride. She does not fence or attend duels. She does not fire a pistol, and she never gambles at a gentlemen's club.

Lady Calpurnia Hartwell has always followed the rules, rules that have left her unmarried—and more than a little unsatisfied. And so she's vowed to break the rules and live the life of pleasure she's been missing.
But to dance every dance, to steal a midnight kiss—to do those things, Callie will need a willing partner. Someone who knows everything about rule-breaking. Someone like Gabriel St. John, the Marquess of Ralston—charming and devastatingly handsome, his wicked reputation matched only by his sinful smile.
If she's not careful, she'll break the most important rule of all—the one that says that pleasure-seekers should never fall hopelessly, desperately in love . . .

All I can say is WOW, WOW and WOW!!

This book was wonderful!! I mean the chemistry between Callie and Gabriel is like an inferno and I was surprised I did not suffer from third degree burns while holding this book!!

I really admire Callie she is the odd girl out...the wallflower in love with the handsomest of men and thinking that nothing could ever come of it and deciding she really has nothing to lose she makes a list and determines to live life even it means stealing into the house of her long time love and demanding a kiss! And from there on out it is a war of passions and a war for Callie to win Gabriel's heart!

Full of funny, witty dialogue and memorable and lovable secondary characters this book is definitely worth the read. And WOWEE were there some hot, hot, hot scenes in this book....talk about deliciously, wicked and lushily fabulous. Gabriel St. John is one of those dark, brooding heros you can't help but love and Callie is just the kind of girl you would love to be friends with!

I must admit that after I read the last words I felt bereft and I immediately wanted to pick it up and read it again...thank you Sarah for making some of the most wonderful characters that I have read in a very long time. While it is hard for me not to say I love a book because I really do but usually the characters float out of my head but I have a feeling I won't forget these and with Nick's book coming out in October it is something I'm definitely looking forward to!

RATING: ***** (5 which is the bestest)

If you wanna read Gabriel's and Callie's story just go here --->Nine Rules to Break When Romancing a Rake and you can read for yourself but beware you just might be burned from the heat......
